It is Easy to Live Fully & Peacefully at Friends House

Life at Friends House is more than just retirement – it can be a peaceful getaway, long-overdue R&R, a new community to enjoy, as well as a new and exciting chapter in your life. Here, you can kick back and relax  or get your hands dirty in our two-acre community garden, visit the barber and beauty shop for a trim, shop in the thrift store, work out in the fitness room,  or create new works in the Art Room. The lawn, trash, snow removal, repairs and other pesky chores are taken care of by our friendly maintenance team. All sorts of enrichment activities and sociable gatherings are organized by the Residents Association. At Friends House residents have many resources to draw on as they put together rewarding independent living in retirement.

All residents of our community have access to a robust calendar of resident-run activities – exercise classes and movies, craft workshops and organic gardening, and many volunteer opportunities.  Residents gather to enjoy meals in our restaurant and bistro together and they take long walks around the green and eco-friendly campus. Friends House residents also appreciate the simplicity and peace of strolls along our nature trails.  The community has  a vibrant independent spirit that informs volunteerism, activism, lifelong learning and many resident-organized projects, events and activities.

Residents can exercise, garden, learn, pioneer, relax and create with complete peace of mind knowing that, as a Life Plan Community with a comprehensive continuum of care, Friends House offers higher levels of support and assistance if they ever need it.

The care my sister received was AWESOME! She had a terminal illness and was kept clean, up out of bed, dressed and socially engaged as long as possible. The CNAs, nurses, caretakers were kind and caring … I would recommend to anyone living in the area to consider Friends House.

This is without a doubt one of the finest facilities a person could ask for. They have everything you need to exist. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate you. The restaurant facilities are outstanding. And maintenance is always there when needed.

Our family has had a mom, two aunts, and now another aunt living at Friends House in different stages of care. This is an amazing place, and the care is exceptional.

Living very far away, it is so comforting to know that my mother has the high-quality care of their skilled nursing facility, as well as the support of the community. I love to visit and always make new friends amongst the residents. So many interesting, engaged elders.

The grounds are lovely (fruit orchards), and it has great apartment living for independent living Low key, casual laid back living in a great location.

Friends House Seniors Association

The resident-run Friends House Seniors Association (FHSA) exists as a unique driver of the lifestyle and culture of our campus. FHSA is self-governed by current Friends House residents and self-funded by donations and proceeds from our campus resale shop ( also resident-run). With this independent, entrepreneurial spirit, the FHSA distributes and allocates funds to many of the community’s most distinct and enriching senior-led programs.

Independent Support

Friends House is dedicated to helping seniors in our community by providing them with as much or as little support as they need to live their best life here on our 62 acres of beautiful, sustainable greenery. Independent residents living in either our tight-knit community lodges or our comfortable duplex cottages can expect access to exciting performances and events, activities and volunteer opportunities as well as individual care services from our on-campus health center or our medical partners should they ever need it.
