Our Earth Month observance continued with a captivating screening of "Hometown Habitat," a film that highlights the importance of native plants in our ecosystems and communities. Around 45 of our residents gathered for this engaging event, watching Part 1 of the video and then participating in an energized discussion, sharing thoughts and reflections on what they learned. The passion and insight demonstrated by our residents during the discussion underscore our community's dedication to environmental awareness and action. It's truly inspiring to see such collective enthusiasm for learning and making positive environmental impacts. We are looking forward to the showing of Part 2 later this month, anticipating more enlightening conversations and shared learning experiences. Our commitment to sustainability and the environment is a year-round endeavor, and Earth Month is a special time to highlight and build upon our ongoing efforts. Thank you to all our residents for their active participation and for inspiring one another toward greater environmental stewardship.#EarthMonth #HometownHabitat #Sustainability #FriendsHouseCommunity ... An Eclipse to Remember at Friends House Retirement Community! Our residents gathered under the Pergola in the garden to witness the awe-inspiring solar eclipse, a celestial event that brought together friends, neighbors, and even our furry companions under the same sky. Thanks to Wallace's generous provision of a telescope and the essential solar viewing glasses for everyone's safety, the experience was not only breathtaking but also enlightening. Our residents, equipped with their protective eyewear, shared light nibbles and laughter, seated comfortably amidst the beauty of our garden, embodying the spirit of camaraderie that defines our community. And let's not forget the delightful sight of one of our resident's dog, sporting his own pair of safety glasses, ensuring that everyone, regardless of species, enjoyed this spectacular phenomenon with care! These moments of community and shared experiences are what make life at Friends House so special. #solareclipse2024 #CommunityBonding #friendshousemagic ... The care my sister received was AWESOME! She had a terminal illness and was kept clean, up out of bed, dressed and socially engaged as long as possible. The CNAs, nurses, caretakers were kind and caring … I would recommend to anyone living in the area to consider Friends House.

This is without a doubt one of the finest facilities a person could ask for. They have everything you need to exist. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate you. The restaurant facilities are outstanding. And maintenance is always there when needed.

Our family has had a mom, two aunts, and now another aunt living at Friends House in different stages of care. This is an amazing place, and the care is exceptional.

Living very far away, it is so comforting to know that my mother has the high-quality care of their skilled nursing facility, as well as the support of the community. I love to visit and always make new friends amongst the residents. So many interesting, engaged elders.

The grounds are lovely (fruit orchards), and it has great apartment living for independent living Low key, casual laid back living in a great location.

Giving Back to Our Mothers, Fathers & Grandparents Is the Gift You Give Yourself

Friends House believes in fostering a generous community that gives freely and compassionately to our elders and those in need – whether that’s a volunteer with a gift of time or effort … or a local partner helping organize an event … or a resident or employee of Friends House. The town of Sandy Spring, Maryland, has always been a community that provides for neighbors and friends – and we seek to continue that tradition for Friends House seniors and others throughout Montgomery County.
