Craft Your Own Future Lifestyle at Friends House

Our high regard for the Quaker values of S implicity, Peace,  Integrity, C ommunity, Equality and  Stewardship of native ecosystems and natural resources is reflected in everything we build and do at Friends House – including our strong, sustainable residences. As an organization founded by the Religious Society of Friends, we are committed not only to practicing these virtues but to manifesting them through action and durable building practices that employ sustainable materials and methods.

Using LEED for Homes as our guide, our residences exceed Montgomery County’s stringent requirements for energy conservation – and we’re always looking for new ways to improve our eco-friendly efforts and minimize our environmental footprint. To that end, our buildings and homes use R45 room insulation along with high-efficiency lighting, appliances, heating and cooling to keep both our planet and our residents comfortable and secure.

Our residents’ health and peace of mind are of utmost importance as well, and so in constructing our neighborhoods, homes, amenities and common areas, we strive to bring seniors and nature together. Lodges and cottages offer balconies and patios, and permeable pathways and dark-sky exterior lighting help emphasize the natural beauty and grace of our campus. It also improves our residents’ overall well-being. Countless studies by psychologists attest to the benefits “green and blue spaces” have on older adults.

Many of our senior living options and floor plan styles include dens and/or private garages as well as full kitchens, individually controlled thermostats, ample closet space, and washers and dryers. All residences come with access to our charming campus, and encourage participation in many kinds of services and amenities.
