Kendall Anthony has been a resident at Friends House for 17 years and shares her experience:
“I moved to Friends House some 17 years ago from very close by in Sandy Spring. Since then, I’ve been involved with lots of committees and done lots of things here. They have all been rewarding! I was on several planning committees for the most recent expansion (2020-23). Right now, I am the convener of the Newsletter, which I’ve helped with for a long time. It’s gotten a lot easier because we used to have to mail the newsletter to everybody and lug all those paper copies to the post office.
What’s been the most fun? I like volunteering in the Elephant Shop (thrift shop on campus). You meet a lot of people you might not otherwise, and that’s fun.
What do I support here financially? I usually give to the Unrestricted Fund and let Friends House decide what they want to do with it. I think renovating Haviland Hall and the Healthcare facilities is especially important and am pleased that this is in the works.”
